When I love something I can become obsessed with it! When I am excited about something I tell everyone. If something lights me up, I want nothing more than to share that light and bring a bit of joy and a fun idea to someone else.
I wanted to share a few of my latest obsessions in case any sound fun and interesting to you. They are totally random…I sat down to make a list of my new favorite things, and it took all of ten seconds because it was easy. These things rock!
AND it is a testament to how comfortable I feel with you, my readers and friends, that I am sharing them in this way. I am not shy about my gifts and what I bring to the world, but photography is NOT one of them! The fact that I will even share these pics lets you know just how much I love this stuff 🙂
Doterra Peppermint Oil
One day when I was feeling a bit tired I grabbed my peppermint oil out of sheer desperation. I don’t drink coffee and I try to stay away from caffeine in general, but I needed a little boost. I hadn’t ever used this oil before, but it was in my medicine cabinet, and as I said, I just needed something to perk me up. I dabbed a bit of oil on each temple, near the hair line not close to my eye, and the effect was immediate. I felt alert and awake, and 100% peppier.
I now call my peppermint oil “my morning coffee” and I use it every day after I wash my face. I love the way it helps me feel ready to tackle the day. It is also great to keep in your car if you are feeling tired while driving.
It is important to get doterra products from a legit rep. Feel free to email mine, Julie, at firstname.lastname@example.org to order 🙂
If you knew my husband you’d laugh that I am wearing maroon leggings. He went to Texas A&M University and is a pretty big Aggie fan. His college colors are maroon and white and people that go to A&M, or went there, are diehards and wear these colors ALL the time. It is school spirit on crack. I’d never seen anything like it till I moved to Texas!
I went to George Washington University, and we didn’t even have a football team. I am also one of four girls, not gifted athletically, and not into sports unless my kids are playing them. When I wear these leggings in Texas I look like an Aggie…and I love them so much that I don’t care!
They look good with EVERYTHING and you can get them at Lululemon. For some reason I couldn’t find them online but they were in my local store 🙂
The filter on my sink broke, and I have called three people to come fix it but nobody has called me back. #annoying
In the meantime, my water intake dropped considerably when I got sick of buying bottled water.
My amazing nutritionist (Ali with Island Health in SC) suggested I get a Britta water bottle to tide me over till my sink gets fixed. She’s brilliant!!
You can put regular tap water in the bottle, and when you drink through the straw it filters the water with each sip. Love it and its from Amazon, of course!
Bone Broth Chai
Speaking of my amazing nutritionist…she could actually be on this list too…she got me to drink bone broth every day with her amazing tip of turning it into chai.
Bone broth has a plethora of health benefits, and gives me nutrients that I am missing in my vegetarian diet, but I don’t love the way it tastes. Ali told me to put it in the vitamix with coconut oil, lots of cinnamon and a bit of nutmeg, and once heated it turns into a creamy, yummy chai inspired drink.
Now, don’t go expecting it to taste like a Starbucks chai. She is good, but not a miracle worker. I will say that I liked it even the first time I had it, and now I even crave it 🙂
(Side note if you are confused about my vegetarian choices…I don’t each chicken, but I am ok with chicken broth as long as their are no actual pieces in it. Kinda weird to a lot of people, it’s my comfort level.)
And there is no pic I can take that would even remotely make this look beautiful. I have discovered that making food and drinks look good is a true talent!! Trust me and drink it!
Creamy (Vegan) Spinach Soup
Now that your mouth is watering, I am totally obsessed with this soup, and actually the book Breaking Vegan where it came from as well.
I devoured Jordan’s book in two days. Her story of becoming vegan, orthorexic, and finally healing herself, was so relatable and inspiring. If you are looking for a book to curl up with over the holidays, this is a great one. Jordan’s message of honoring your body and what works for you make so much sense, and you will want Jordan to be your new BFF by the time you are done reading!
At the end of the book Jordan shares delicious, healthy, whole-food recipes. This Creamy Spinach Soup is one of my favorites and I have it all the time now. You must try it!
Am I the last person to this party??? I downloaded and listened to Elizabeth Gilbert’s new book “BIG MAGIC” and loved the whole listening while I drive and take walks experience. I can’t recommend her book enough, and I just downloaded Brene Brown’s “The Gifts of Imperfections” because I have been wanting to read it forever and let’s face it, I spend much more time being a chauffeur than lounging on my couch reading!
BeautyCounter’s Twig Lipstick
It feels like I have been searching for the perfect nude lipstick forever. Forever may be strong, but a good few years is totally accurate. I am obsessed with this one and as you can see from the pic it has been applied quite a few times. This one is a keeper!
I get my BeautyCounter products from my lovely rep Allyson and you can contact her at email@example.com
SO, I’d love to hear from you! Let me know in the comments what you are obsessed with these days!
