It seems like I always have a bag on this list! I think they are fun to change out with the season, and I do put them away and go back to them year after year.
This fall I am trying a trend that I’ve never tried before…the backpack. I’ve always wanted to, but never found one with the cool factor I was looking for at a reasonable price. Until now!
I learned of this Rebecca Minkoff gold backpack from a blogger I follow, Carly at C. Style blog, and thankfully she posted it during the Nordstrom half yearly sale so I saved a bit on it. (at the time of this post it is 50% off!)
I have been doing a ton of Kundalini yoga lately. It makes me feel super energized and balanced, and it’s fun…but sometimes it’s really hard. It’s hard/fun 🙂
If you want to learn more about Kundalini, check out the book Invincible Living by Guru Jagat, or her course on MindBodyGreen. I have learned a lot from both and they have motivated me to do more at home in addition to the class I attend in Houston once a week.
I also subscribe to the Golden Bridge Yoga online classes, which are great, but it’s neat to see my comfort level grow with my practice, and now I will put some nice music on and follow the routines on my own.
I have always had super thick eyebrows, so I never thought I needed to do anything to them, and need is probably the wrong word anyway. Of course I don’t NEED to, but I tried defining them a bit with a pencil and I love the way it looks, so now I am kind of obsessed with doing it!
This one is by Jentry Kelly, but I am sure every brand has one. You need the pencil on one end and the brush on the other to blend. Be careful not to go too dark. The color they gave me is lighter than I thought I would need but it looks perfect.
I have another eye obsession! I love the way that eyelash extensions look, but I have heard they are terrible for your real eyelashes and they can make them fall out, so I cancelled the one appointment I made to try them.
I read about magnetic lashes and was intrigued. They have tiny micro magnets on them, so they close around your eyelashes with no glue. I figured it was worth a try!
I just got them so I’m still practicing with them, but the night I wore them I felt so glam. After a little bit I stopped noticing them, and they were more comfortable than I thought they’d be. One eye went on perfectly the first time, and the other took a bit longer to get the placement right. You need to get used to them when you aren’t in a rush!
In the commercial for them people talk about wearing them every day. That will never happen in my life, but for a fun night out or a big party I will be excited to bust them out.
I mix Purify an Lemon in my diffuser and I absolutely love the fresh clean scent it provides as it literally cleans the air.
My favorite blend in my water is orange, lemon and ginger (one or two drops of each) and as the weather cools you can add to them to warm water with a drop of cinnamon and some honey for a soothing and yummy tea.
I literally did not blow dry my hair this summer at all. I sprayed salt spray on after the shower and let it air dry, very happily. I will be taking this habit into fall because it is so easy, and I am into the beach wave thing 🙂
There are tons of salt sprays out there, but I really like the Honest Beauty one. It is sulfate free, and basically everything free that you don’t want, but it works really well and is a fair price. I am sure there is a DIY recipe out there too!
My holistic nutritionist recommended matcha to me because it has i-theanine in it, which helps it to provide a more calm focused energy instead of a nervous energy that you can get from coffee.
To be honest, I didn’t love the taste of matcha when I first tried it, but I do love the way I have learned to make it in a latte. It is delicious and I look forward to it every morning! If you think you hate matcha it can grow on you 🙂
I make it in a vitamix with the following ingredients:
3/4 cup hot, but not boiling water- about 170 degrees)
3/4 cup steamed unsweetened almond milk
1 teaspoon matcha (use ceremonial grade as is makes a big difference!)
one or two tablespoons of collagen powder
one tablespoon raw, unfiltered honey
sometimes I add a scoop of buffered vitamin C powder
Blend for about 5-10 seconds and enjoy!
Carrots and Sunbutter
This is the most random thing I have every included in an Ali’s Obsessions!
My sister came to visit and was shocked that I had never tried carrots dipped in nut butter. Who knew?!
I decided to give it a go with sunbutter, and I seriously cannot stop eating it. Steph, I love you and hate you!
This is hands down the softest cardigan I have ever felt in my life. It is the same brand that makes the yummiest blankets in the world, so basically you are wearing a blanket as a sweater…in a good way!
I love that this scrumptious cardigan does double duty, which is great since I don’t plan on taking it off all fall. It can just as easily top workout clothes or black jeans and a T for lunch, the movies, or a casual date night. GET. THIS. SWEATER. You will thank me!
My Book Series
This is a shameless plug 🙂 I am going to admit it…I am obsessed with the fact that I have a book series. Not just one book, but a series!! It is one of my proudest accomplishments, and I hope you read both books and love them.
