I am not big on New Years resolutions because every year they leave me feeling like a failure when I don’t follow through. I am big on intention setting though. I love the idea of setting a goal, but in a gentle and compassionate way.
As the year draws to a close, I started thinking about what I intended to do in 2015 that I hadn’t done this year. Journal Writing immediately popped into my head. It is the one thing that I have totally slacked on. I love the idea of journal writing, but the reality of it is my hand starts to hurt and I get overwhelmed by the time I think I have to spend to be successful. Until now!
I was introduced to the 5 Minute Journal and it is a game changer for me. I decided to get a head start on my intention and incorporate the journal into my routine in December so I would be cooking by New Years. It felt less intimidating than waiting for January 1st like it was dooms day or something.
What I love about the 5 Minute Journal is that you use it to start and end your day with a bit of mindfulness…just enough to make you think about something important, jot it down, but not overwhelm you at all.
The morning is about gratitude, intention setting and affirmations, and the evening is about reflection.
I have absolutely loved making this journal part of my daily routine, and I know I will be successful at keeping it going in 2015 and beyond.
